The Regulations

Presentation

The Coupe Lumière is organized by CLIC Triel, the Photo Club of Triel Sur Seine in partnership with the Town Hall of Triel-sur-Seine (France)
It is an international competition for audiovisual editing authors.
The Coupe Lumière brings together in a single day a meeting between authors and the public and the screening of selected works.

The Competition

It is open to all audiovisual editing directors

The aim of this competition is:

To promote discipline

To encourage the quality of the assemblies:

  • by a scenario bringing emotion
  • by searching for beautiful images
  • by developing a suitable soundtrack

and also to meet for fruitful exchanges between audiovisual enthusiasts.

The Competition process

After validation by the organizers, the montages are evaluated by a panel of three judges chosen by "CLIC Triel". Each judge views all the montages individually.

After consultation, the jury chooses 10 montages and determines the 3 first prizes, the Grand Prix of the City of Triel sur Seine and the 6 special prizes

It also determines the list of acceptances.

The selection of 10 montages is projected on a large screen during the public screening of the Festival.

It may be supplemented by one or more montages chosen from the accepted films. The order of screenings is decided by the organizers.

At the end of this session, but before the announcement of the winners, the spectators vote for the award of the "Public Prize" from among all the montages screened.

The Competition Prizes

The 10 montages selected by the jury are rewarded with one of the following 10 prizes:

  • 1st Prize: The Gold Light Cup
  • 2nd Prize: The Silver Light Cup
  • 3rd Prize: The Bronze Light Cup
  • The Grand Prix of the City of Triel Sur Seine
  • The 6 Special Prizes

Furthermore, the Public Prize is awarded after the vote has been counted.

Registration

Registration is limited to two montages per author.

The maximum duration of montages is set at 12 minutes.
The theme is open to all. However, the organizers reserve the right to remove any montage that is biased, advertising, displays propaganda, or violates decency.
The montages must be of a “General Audience” nature.

As the competition is international, the language of the commentary is free. Non-French-language montages will be translated or subtitled into French if possible. At a minimum, they must be accompanied by a summary in French, which will be read before the screening of these montages. This summary will be included in the montage identification sheet (see §7)

The montages will preferably be in 16:9 output format. The video projector has an HD definition of 1920 x 1080 pixels. We recommend producing in this format.

Remarks

a) The use of different image formats (square for example) is possible, however it is recommended to choose an image height of 1080 pixels.

b) The insertion of video sequences is authorized without limitation of duration

c) The use of artificial intelligence tools is permitted in the competition, whether for the script, still or animated images, music, voices or sounds. However, AI must remain a support tool and cannot constitute the entirety of the work: the creative approach must first and foremost come from the author(s).

For the sake of transparency, any use of AI must be clearly mentioned in the end credits, indicating the tools used and the elements concerned.

Authors remain responsible for respecting copyright and licenses related to the generated content.

d) The montages will be sent exclusively in mp4 video file.

Registration fee

The registration fee can be paid by bank transfer, PayPal, HelloAsso or by check for those with a bank account in France.

Transmission of assembly files

Each file will include:

  • The mp4 file of the montage
  • The montage poster must be vertical (portrait), with a maximum height of 1080 pixels, in jpeg format, and include, at a minimum, the title of the montage and the name of the author.
