2018-JURY

The 2018 jury

Maryvonne Borowicz

I share my passion for photography with my husband!

I like discoveries in nature or historical sites.

I am passionate about audiovisual editing which offers me great possibilities.

I also like to share the achievements of other enthusiasts.

Being asked to be part of the jury of La Coupe Lumière, for me it will be a unique and very rewarding adventure with people whose skills I appreciate.

Jean Louis Lorenzi

As a worthy heir to his father, director Stellio Lorenzi, Jean-Louis is part of a certain tradition of so-called public service television. His films are imbued with a real humanism of which his "Hill of a Thousand Children" is one of the finest examples which had such an impact that this film was rewarded, in the United States, in 1996, by an Emmy Awards.

Jose CATALAN

I discovered photography at 16 and since then has been a passion that has never left me.

For me, photography takes on its full meaning when it is the fruit of an encounter, when it is the object of a sharing, when it is built from our feelings. Succeeding in expressing them, gives emotion and the ability to be in tune with what surrounds us.

It was at the Hénin-Beaumont photo club in the 90s that I learned about audiovisual, thanks to the slideshow friends of the Club. I will always remember the atmosphere of the live screenings with the public.

Since the transition to digital, the possibilities of creation have multiplied and open up new spaces for expression, but they require much more requirement for the production of a short photo film. Entering an author's approach presupposes reflection on the chosen subject and the development of a scenario before embarking on this creative exercise.

The audiovisual editing cannot be done without sharing and positive reviews to go beyond the simple image, however aesthetic it may be.

What keeps us emotionally caught up in an audiovisual montage?

Even if images leave us with an emotion, a message, they cannot say everything. To take on more meaning, the images chosen can also be based on a text, a specific choice of music and sound effects.

For me, this approach places the author even more in a commitment and openness to the world.

Participating in the jury for this new edition of the 2018 Coupe Lumière will give me the opportunity to live a very rewarding experience.

It's a great chance to be able to discover new sensibilities, new montages ... and to give an opinion, ... to establish with my two other colleagues, the winners of a day.

Thank you to the authors who will participate in the Coupe Lumière and who contribute to making this form of creative expression better known.
