2017-JURY

The jury 2017

Michele Franco.

I have attended, with great pleasure, La Coupe Lumière organized by Clic Triel for the past three years.

This 2017 edition has a special character for me; appointed judge somewhat by surprise, I am honored to participate in the discovery and then the selection of these short films of the seventh art.

The seventh art marries in Triel that of photography, to offer us in a very original way little jewels of staging.

I do not practice the art of the slide show but my taste, my long habit of cinema will be my guides so as not to disappoint you in the selections that I will support with joy with my fellow judges so that La Coupe Lumière is faithful to its reputation. !

Since National Education authorized me to exercise my rights to retirement, photography has occupied a prominent place in my life and remains, along with painting, one of my favorite passions. I draw most of my subjects from my immediate environment, from the Cotentin which has adopted me for several decades and which offers me landscapes where the sky, the sea and the large bocage expanses play with light like nowhere else. ... But I also know how to get out of my region, even cross the borders to seek new points of view and new atmospheres in other places.

From photography to slideshow there is only one step, which I took without hesitation. The slideshow has become for me a natural extension of photographic work, an opportunity to stage my images and give them another dimension thanks to appropriate music and text.

This year, by joining the jury for the 2017 edition of the Coupe Lumière, I am having a new experience. I'm sure it will bring me a lot, on the one hand by discovering other skills, other creative expressions, and on the other hand by sharing my modest skills in the field of slideshows. Thank you to the organizers for placing their trust in me.

Claude Hebert.

After a life as an amateur photographer well thwarted by professional obligations, I returned to photography, like many of us, with retirement.

The advent of digital has allowed me to discover audiovisual editing, bringing to traditional photography additional movement and above all greater possibilities for telling stories.

In order to learn these new techniques, for ten years my wife and I - we "work" as a duo - have attended and then participated in numerous galas and festivals with the joy of seeing our creations projected on the big screen which, in our eyes, is the best reward for the time spent taking care of the images and the soundtrack. We also had the pleasure of receiving from time to time a sign of recognition from the spectators or the juries.

Today I am very happy to be called upon to participate actively in this Coupe Lumière 2017. As a juror, I will be particularly attentive to the technical quality of the assemblies proposed. It is in my opinion, the least of things that authors competing for a prize, take the time to offer their montages free of any technical problem, including "ortaugraft fotes".

Then the originality of the subject, the scenario, the angle of treatment, the possible judicious use of video and creativity will make the difference between the proposed achievements.

Not being part of any club or any chapel, I keep a total freedom of judgment naturally influenced by my personal preferences which go rather towards the stories told, if possible, with a little humor, on texts, photos , videos and soundtracks avoiding borrowings from other authors as much as possible.

I know from experience that any ranking is open to criticism, but I can promise competing authors that my opinions will have been formed in a spirit of balance and impartiality. Claude Hebert
