2014-JURY

The jury 2014

Christan Brion.

It all started with the production of soundtracks in 1967. Then I fell into the audiovisual pot in 1979, within the Photo Ciné Club des PTT de Paris, now known as "Objectif Image".

A first editing in competition at Epinal in 1980, and the addiction was there. For more than 30 years, I have had the pleasure of making audiovisual montages and sharing this passion, with all the authors I have met in France and elsewhere, according to juries, festivals and competitions.

On the occasion of "La Coupe Lumière", I am sure that we will discover quality works, which will be able to make people know, make people smile, and will also reveal their capacity to surprise and move us.

Having started the slideshow a long time ago in a group and with no other goal than to share and make known, I discovered the world of festivals and competitions much later, and I had the opportunity to meet very diverse works, and techniques that have evolved a lot.

If the form is important and the innovation commendable, the coherence between the various elements of the assembly is essential, and the personal view of the author is decisive in my eyes in the appreciation and the evaluation of a work.

It is in this spirit that I accepted the proposal of the Club de Triel.

From the modest compact to the mythical Hasselblad, from the darkness of a darkroom to the light of a showroom, the paths are tortuous. Each photographer has their own journey.

It takes time to sharpen one's eye and capture the light.

I discovered the photographic short film with the Coulommiers club and its president Philippe de Lachèze-Murel.

I was lucky enough to have some gratifying successes very quickly, which favored the ground for the famous "slideshow virus" to take root in my body and proliferate.

This art mixes my three passions which are literature, music and photography.

I like to feel a photographer behind the work and the soul behind it. I don't really like what is called in the small middle of the slide show: animation.

I find that these effects are most often used to hide a lack of background and that this almost gives an old-fashioned or even laughable side to your project and goes against a certain aesthetic of the image.
